The Abierto por obras (Open for Works) programme takes us on a journey through time. Drawing upon its restoration work, we can get to know its origins (the first Santa María temple, in the Romanesque style and attached to the wall) and the work being carried out to reinforce the current Gothic cathedral in the 21st century.

Visit the Medieval Quarter
Lose yourself in the Medieval Quarter of Vitoria-Gasteiz, declared a Monumental Site. Its medieval layout remains intact and walking around it means tracing the history of the city, discovering the ancient wall, civilian buildings, palaces, tower houses and temples that are home to Gothic, Renaissance, Baroque and Neoclassical art.

Children’s tour of the Medieval Quarter: “Vitoria-Gasteiz for little ones”
An entertaining and educational family stroll designed for little ones with the aim of helping them to discover some of the most beautiful corners of the Medieval Quarter. It’s a tour with a green undertone where clues and proposals are put forward in order to look after and preserve our environment.
Visit in 3D. A journey through history
Guided tour of the Medieval Quarter to take you back in time, using virtual reality, to the city in 1850. It allows you to admire important elements and constructions that were maintained at the time, such as the access doorways to the Medieval Quarter or the old San Francisco convent as well as the San Vicente Tower which is under construction.
In situ visits
The Tourist Office organises guided visits around some of the city’s most emblematic buildings at Easter, in summer, at Christmas and on public holidays.
Take the chance to get to know unique places such as the Tower of the Church of San Vicente, the San Miguel Church, the Villa Suso Palace or the gardens and terrace of the Europa Palace Conference Centre.
Visit to the medieval gutters
The gutters are urban spaces of medieval origin which were originally drains for the dirty water from houses. They are currently public spaces located inside the blocks of the Medieval Quarter, salvaged as small botanical gardens.
