Regional Government palace - Tourism in Vitoria-Gasteiz
Known in Spanish as the Palacio de la Diputación, it was built in 1833 to respond to the need for the General Council of Álava to have its own headquarters for meetings. It is a square-shaped building made of dressed stone. Designed by Vitoria architect Martín Saracíbar, it was built in two phases. Initially, the building had only one floor until 1844, when construction started to add a second storey. The refurbishment was completed in 1858, creating the building that we can see today.
