The sanctuary is dedicated to Our Lady of Estíbaliz, the Patron Saint of Álava. Dating from the 12th century, it is a Romanesque structure with Early Gothic elements. Its Latin cross floor plan features a single nave and a chancel with three apses. On June 3rd, 1931, it was declared a Site of Cultural Interest. Next to the sanctuary, you can also visit the Álava Romanesque Interpretation Centre.

  1. Romanesque temple. South Façade (decorated jambs, shafts of the carved columns)
  2. Sculpture of the Patron Saint of Álava. 12th century
  3. Romanesque baptismal font.
  4. Festival in the fields on the 1st of May.
  5. Romanesque Interpretation Centre.

  • Error en la descripción del santuario:

    El santuario es de planta de cruz latina, con UNA ÚNICA nave , con cabecera "triconque" o formada por tres ábsides. (En la descripción consta como planta de tres naves y es erróneo, como puede aprecarse en el plano que adjunto).
