  • Guide the gathering, management, and use and analysis of the best information available for the formulation of more efficient urban and territorial policies.
  • Analyse the operation of the municipality (and its bioregion) as an environmental, social, and economic system, and utilize this knowledge for more efficient local and regional planning.
  • Strengthen the municipal plans and programmes directed towards the proposal and planning of new more sustainable circumstances in the city and territory.
  • Promote the education, information, awareness and participation of citizens on the subject of urban and territorial sustainability, ensuring the participation of all social and economic agents involved.

Work areas

CEA is structured in three functional departments or services which are supported by the organisation.

Environmental awareness and promotion of urban sustainability culture

The mission is to communicate, inform, and raise awareness to enable the paradigm shift implied by Sustainable Development and promote a culture of urban sustainability. With this purpose, it is responsible for devising and carrying out programmes on Environmental Education (Nature and Biodiversity, Energy, Waste, Water, Mobility, etc.), Awareness (Exhibitions, Communication Campaigns, Events and Anniversaries, Competitions, Film Screenings, Informational Lectures, etc.), Nature, Sport and Leisure on the Green Belt, and Civic Participation.

Information and innovation for sustainability

Promotes the management of information and innovation orientated to new circumstances in the city and territory, as well as is responsible for technical participation in the development of Research, Development and Innovation projects which analyse the functioning of cities as environmental, social and economic systems from a holistic perspective. This department is in charge of implementing and energizing innovative strategies concerning sustainable mobility, energy, and the fight against climate change as well as other fields of urban metabolism.

Study, analysis and evaluation of sustainability

Encourages analysis, evaluation, and supporting studies for carrying out the strategic projects and lines of work from the municipal Department of the Environment. In addition, it deals with prospecting for funding and institutional frameworks capable of supporting the execution of the programmed strategic projects and lines.

Retribuciones de las personas miembro del Consejo Rector

Los concejales y concejalas del Ayuntamiento que cuentan con dedicación y cobran un salario no cobran, aparte de éste, dietas de ningún tipo.

El artículo 80 del Reglamento Orgánico del Pleno establece que sólo las personas miembro del Pleno que no cuentan con dedicación percibirán dietas de asistencia a las sesiones de los órganos colegiados de que formen parte (115 euros por sesión).

El artículo 106, además, establece que las personas designadas por los Grupos que no tengan la condición de concejales o concejalas tendrán derecho a la percepción de una dieta de 300 euros por cada asistencia a los consejos de administración de las sociedades municipales y a los consejos rectores de los organismos autónomos.
