If you like walking through charming town parks,
without leaving the city, here are a few proposals:
La Florida Park.
These are the city's most representative gardens,
situated right in the centre of Vitoria-Gasteiz. La Florida was designed
as a large botanical garden of the Romantic era in the style of the
French gardens of 19th-century. It contains 95 different species
and some trees are over 100 years old.
El Prado Park.
Used by the inhabitants of the city since the
12th century, the Prado was formerly used for grazing animals.
Arriaga Park.
The city's most expensive park. Covers an area
of 190,000 square metres and is arranged around a chapel where politicians
swore their oaths of allegiance. It includes a bicycle path, amphitheatre
and more than 100 species of trees.
Judimendi Park.
In the past, this park contained a Jewish cemetery
which was handed over to the city in the 15th century when the Jews
were expelled from the country by the Catholic King and Queen.
La Senda-Paseo Cervantes-Fray Francisco.
This walk, of about 3 km in length, links La Florida
Park with the Campas de Armentia.
