The city is making great efforts to adapt itself to Community accessibility regulations. The Tourist Office has developed a number of different awareness campaigns and has initiated an “a la carte” activities and guided visits for the blind and physically handicapped. Guided visits with sign language interpreters are also organised. The staff of this office have also taken part in sign language courses and have translated restaurant menus and hotel information into braille. In 2005, the Tourist Office received the Cascabel de Oro prize–awarded by the National Organisation for the Blind for the work it has done to promote social integration and secure the elimination of architectural barriers.
