The development of the Green Belt involves a wide range of building and civil works projects and other activities. Many of these have been carried out by contractors and others, relating more to selvicultural work and the treatment of forestry land, are performed, now and in the past, by student-workers in a number of Workshop School programmes promoted jointly by the CEA and the INEM (National Employment Institute) for the training of specialists in forestry work, gardening and nurseries.
In this way, the Green Belt is being used to enable young, unemployed persons to do practical training courses.
