03/23/06 - More than 45.000 trees and bushes have been planted in the Green Belt this winter
The most outstanding works have been the environmental restoration of a piece of municipal land located between the south part of the park of Zabalgana and the N-102 road.
This restoration has been made using 18.640 trees and bushes of autoctonous species that are common in woods of portuguese oaks: portuguese oak, field maple, blackthorn, wayfaringtree, hawthorn, common buckthorn, dog rose...
Also the new Atxa-Landaberde park has been reforested with 9.030 young plants typical of woods of portuguese oaks, common oaks, european alders and thorns. Besides, 263 big trees have been planted.
There are more places of the Green Belt in which plantations have been made: Salburua, Olarizu, Alegrķa, the new flood bed of river Zadorra near Gamarra Mayor and in Basaldea (Abetxuko).
