The green way between Vitoria-Gasteiz and the Arlaban mountain pass The Gamarra sports complex marks the end of the promenade along the river Alegrķa. The green way continues following the route of the disused Vasco-Navarro railway line which climbs gradually from Vitoria-Gasteiz to the Arlaban mountain pass, in the province of Gipuzkoa. Following the route of the green way from Vitoria-Gasteiz to the Arlaban mountain pass, from the villages of Retana and Landa, you can reach the Uribarri-Ganboa reservoir and join the 47-km circular route which runs around the reservoir. It is interesting to visit the stations that line the route of the old disused railway. Some of the buildings have been restored for a range of different uses and others are awaiting refurbishment. All of them are good examples of the architecture of the 1930s and together act as a reminder of an important page in the history of this region.
The Gamarra sports complex Very near the place where the river Alegrķa runs into the river Zadorra, next to the village of Gamarra Mayor, on the left bank of the river, this municipal installation is the largest sports and leisure complex in the city. It was built at the end of the 1920s due to the popularity of this location on the banks of the river Zadorra among members of the public for bathing and leisure activities. The present installations, inaugurated in 1964, contain a wide range of sports facilities and a large wooded area with a wide range of different plant species.
